| The 38th North Carolina Troops (reactivated) are a group of like-minded living historians and War Between the States reenactors. Whose sole purpose is to preserve history of North Carolina's role in the War Between the States and to portray the Soldiers of the original 38th NCT . We are located in the Piedmont area of NC, and have members in Wilkes, Yadkin, Stokes, Surry, Forsyth, Guilford, Davidson, Davie and surrounding counties. However we are always looking for potential recruits from all areas of NC and welcome anyone from the Counties of the original 38th. We function as a military impression of a North Carolina Unit during the war years. We strive to portray to the best of our ability the Confederate Infantry Soldier through everyday Camp life, drill, and battle reenactments in North Carolina, SC, VA, Tenn. and anniversary battle events such as Gettysburg Pa, Antietam MD, etc. We strive for authenticity and consider ourselves more of a progressive unit which instills pride through drill and attention to detail. We are family friendly and welcome families to participate. However attention to detail and authenticity among all members including our civilians reenactors will be required and adhered to at all times so that we may better portray everyday life during the War years. There is something for everyone to do to help recreate . The 38th NCT falls under the shelter of the Yadkin Valley Confederate Heritage Association which also Includes the Tarheel Militia Home Guard. The 38th NCT and The Tarheel Militia work hand in hand in preserving the honor and history of the North Carolina Confederate Soldiers. Those that are interested in joining the Yadkin Valley Confederate Heritage Association. Have the option of participation in either the 38th North Carolina Troops or the Tarheel Militia Home Guard or become an active participant in both units! The Tarheel Militia Homeguard's duties will concentrate more around Color Guard activities in the surrounding counties of the Yadkin Valley , involving Commemorations, Memorials, Living History events, Monument or grave marker dedications , and supporting the Local SCV and UDC camps when called upon to do so, for the purpose of honoring the NC Confederate Soldier. This unit will serve to benefit those with hectic schedules or limiting health situations etc. who have no desire to participate in the battle reenactment events whom still wish to honor their Confederate heritage here on the homefront ! We feel that the endeavor of bringing together two organizations with one common goal, will serve in our behalf, setting us apart from other entities in the reenacting community , allowing our members to have more flexibility while serving a common cause , by not asking or requiring them to serve beyond their capabilities. Our goal and commitment will always be to pursue progressiveness and unit pride through drill, authenticity and knowledge while passing on the torch of Southern Heritage to be carried into future generations. We are proud of who we are and the Brave Men and Women who we portray... For The Cause Captain Ricky Meadows |
